Re: What Kind of Language is Swordfish

Hi Coccolisso "project included TCP / IP, CAN and GLCD module" CAN is for automobiles. I think. Don't know what a GLCD module is. TCP/ip is a protocol. I think. "Using SF you realize that it is the most optimized" Sounds like 'niche' programming. I guess I thought Swordfish was just a middle of the ...

Re: What Kind of Language is Swordfish

You're kind of touchy and jumpy. Just asking questions about Swordfish. Doing quite well with our Gooligum tutorial on assembler and C thank you. Doing some 'tire kicking' at these other languages. So what! Certainly are a paranoid little bunch at some of these little forums. 'I want to be alone' Ga...

What Kind of Language is Swordfish

We found out Firewing is VB based and that is not going to work for us at all.

What is Swordfish based on?

PIC Basic is an extension of PBasic which is like Qbasic or even something before that.

How is Swordfish different than PBasic?

Re: First Thing to Do In Swordfish

Will be ready to go with development board and 18F25K22 in a couple of days.

Looking forward to seeing what Swordfish is like.

Need to add communication interface to board. I think.

How do you 'Debug' to terminal.

Example: Debug "Hello World".

See if there ins terminal program in Swordfish and

Re: First Thing to Do In Swordfish

Thank you.

Goal is simplest program that will compile.

In Basic Stamp it is 'End'.

That command only.

What next to do that please?

That new post button could be in a better spot.

I wrote a nice reply for nothing.

Do I open a new source file or start a project to get started please?

First Thing to Do In Swordfish

I've heard 'look at the samples and you'll figure it out.' Well. I have done that with a couple languages/compilers and haven't figured much out. That might be for someone who already know another language. What's one thing I can do in Swordfish that will 'move me along'? Write the device line? Than...

Re: PIC 18F1220 and Swordfish Free SE Edition

Yep.

It takes either entering all the supported devices in a database or

thrashing around a lot to figure that out.

Well. It's done now

Thank you..

Re: PIC 18F1220 and Swordfish Free SE Edition

Jerry I ran into that with Olimex serial port 'xx pins' protoboards too. You have two 40 pin PIC's and one will work with the board and one won't. Have to match up 'Supported devices' between boards and Swordfish. We ordered all three pin sizes from Pic Circuits. http://www.piccircuit.com/shop/15-pi...

PIC 18F1220 and Swordfish Free SE Edition

Here's the datasheet. http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/39605F.pdf This would be on this board. http://www.piccircuit.com/shop/pic-dev-board/123-icp21-iboard-tiny-x20.html There is no serial/USB circuit so it would be program and run only. That would be program with Pickit 3 from scrip...

Re: PIC Device For Swordfish Free Spedial Edition

Jerry Okay. So in car racing talk. 'It will run'. Which you're probably big on being in Virginia. That is a very good answer! I'm sold. Firewing 8 bit board we'll be okay. Worth it just to use it in Firewing and Swordfish SE. If it can be hacked to use with Pic Basic and Proton that's a bonus. I jus...

PIC Device For Swordfish Free Spedial Edition

Saw this after rereading Special Editon description. "some newer Microchip devices have Special Function Registers (SFRs) that reside outside of access RAM. The SE version will be unable to access these SFRs by default." Will the PIC that comes on the Firewing run fully functioning in Swordfish SE? ...
