I thought Raistlin was going to go and have a chat (?).
I'm sure most people have drawn their own conclusions, but the accuracy of those conclusions is unknown...
Maybe he's been abducted by Fox Mulder ?
The trouble is the longer it is ignored then the harder it'll be to do upgrades and updates.
My wife has the right attitude: Little and Often.
Yes, she goes out quite often.

Trouble is that as others have pointed out we've been getting drip-fed promises of something happening 'soon' for several months now yet nothing does...Raistlin wrote:He E-Mailed me 3 days ago to say he's get on the forum soon
If 'soon' is more than two months and 'before long' is more than 7 then I wonder if the PIC will still be around when Swordfish finally gets updated...
(Seriously, those of us who are intending to use it professionally need to know if we can rely on support. If the developer doesn't post at all and the other moderator is rarely seen then it doesn't inspire confidence)

Even Steven hasn't posted since May so it appears we have no support and no moderators either.Francis wrote:Wierd isn't it. A lovely product but no support likely.
All the "soons" have turned to dust...
I think we can assume that he's gone...
Time to look in to the alternatives I guess - not ideal two weeks before my project deadline but it isn't responsible to use an unsupported piece of software which may cause my customer issues at a later date.

Oh, I don't know... if everything's working so far, I think the LAST thing I'd do is switch toolchains two weeks before a deadline.Time to look in to the alternatives I guess - not ideal two weeks before my project deadline but it isn't responsible to use an unsupported piece of software which may cause my customer issues at a later date.
At least you won't have to worry about requalifying/testing your code when future updates come out!

If only things were working OK. I've had no end of trouble getting headers that work for the more recent PICs for starters. I've had to pretty much re-write the GLCD module from scratch as it doesn't seem to be compatible with my KS0108-based screens. I've had to work around a few other issues also.Jerry Messina wrote: Oh, I don't know... if everything's working so far, I think the LAST thing I'd do is switch toolchains two weeks before a deadline.
I don't mind these things (and have had similar things to do on almost every other programming language I've used) if I know the thing is being supported. However, I am worried that if I come across a compiler bug that I can't work around or if a new PIC comes out that needs changes to the compiler then I'm going to have to change toolset anyway and I'd rather do it while I'm at the 'proving the hardware' stage rather than when the whole thing is signed off and in production.
It really is a shame as I like Swordfish and find it easy to use and powerful but I just can't commit to something that seems to have become abandonware...
