It's definitely faster than the older programmers, but keep in mind it only works with MPLABX IDE/IPE. Right now there's no command-line support (that I could find).
Also, it doesn't support all devices yet. One nice thing... it doesn't swap firmware like the pickit3/ICD3 when you change devices.
