I live by the seaside and it appears people in the UK do not understand "social distancing" yet - the lower prom was packed out over the weekend, with huge queues at the fish and chip shops! Anecdotally, it was one of the busiest weekends for this time of year. So if there is anyone in the UK reading this, please consider the impact your visit may have (of course, walking on the beach is fine - just stay apart from each other!)

Hi at all,
the growth of coronavirus infections in Italy continues to rise. Total cases jumped to 59,138, with an increase of 5,560 in just one day (however lower than yesterday's record figure which settled at 6,557).
This is what emerged from the Civil Protection bulletin to take stock of the epidemic.
The currently positive cases in Italy are 46,638 (+ 3,957 compared to yesterday), the healed rise to 7,024, with a jump of 952 in one day.
The deaths mark a plus 651 compared to the last twenty-four hours, bringing the total to 5,476. As many as 361 of these new victims are registered in Lombardy (where I live or rather I survive) and 101 in Emilia Romagna.
The hospitalized with symptoms are 19,846 (+ 2,138); in intensive care there are 3,009 (+ 152); in home isolation 23,783 (+ 1,667).
The total cases are therefore 59,138 (+ 5,560); the swabs performed to date are 258,402 (+ 25,180 compared to yesterday).
The figures in the latest civil protection bulletin "are slightly less than yesterday". This is the comment of the head of civil protection.
Do everything to convince your governments to close all non-strategic industrial production and leave only food logistics and food deliveries open. Avoid getting around for nothing!

Here at France people are also still uneducated about the risques they take when going out. "Social distancing" is not enough. People do not understand that. Government gave the the authorization to do 1h sport per day (alone), the possibility to go out to buy foods and first necessity things, to go to work when work from home is impossible, ... but people do not understand that each time they go out, they become a vector of propagation. Even if they are not contaminated, they can help the virus to move from one place to another either when touching surfaces (like cash machines keyboards, lifters buttons, ...). People are still taking time to go "each day" out to buy their croissant, bread, ... they still take their animals out (pets mainly) ignoring that pets walk on human spits and then moving that to home, to stairs, to other humans when they play with them...
When gov announced home containment, a huge amount of Paris residents left the capital to go to their secondary habitations and thus they spread the virus all over the country. This has put a lot of villages and small towns in critical situation especially that their medical services and extremely small hospitals (when existing) have almost no reanimation services nor specialized medical teams. People are really dumb and selfish.
Here hospitals are almost overflooded, even when getting help from army medical services.
USA info are the worse we heared of during last 48h.

Hope things will change and get better soon. After this medical catastroph, hope that the economical catastroph will not be harsh.

A month after my previous post,
the situation "in the country of the 7 hills" is clearly improving and we are going to resume our life in early May.
Unfortunately in the world there are those who propose the intake of isopropyl as a remedy,
perhaps as it happened in 1551 ..

Hi David,
everything is ok here at France. Paris and its surrounding cities are still considered as high risk region, but even with transportations and undisciplined people it seems there is the virus is no more contagious. Maybe it's due to warmer weather.
Today all forests and parks are opened here at France, and on June 2nd, they'll open all restaurants, coffee shops and pubs.
Hope things will be better... still expecting the worse concerning the economical situation and activity of small companies.
