SD Bootloader - Development???

Post by ohararp » Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:09 pm

So I just sent out a couple of SD Dataloggers and they need a firmware update. Trouble is that the customers don't have a Pickit2 or other programmer.

I am just wondering if anyone is developing with Steven's library and would be interested in working on developing an SD bootloader?

I personally think this would be an awesome feature to have. Using the 18F2620 I currently am only using about half of the code and RAM that are available. So I think there is definitely room to put this in there.
Thanks Ryan

I'd be keen to see this - I'm happy to help. I've looked at doing it before, but have never been able to get my head around the bootloader process when looking into the details. With a little help here, I reckon the SD bootloader would be a manageable project.

This sounds great, anyone getting anywhere - I may be able to help with code - in some small way.

Cheers Roshan, although the link refers to bootloaders; I was kindof hoping that someone had created a bootloader specifically for SD Cards

I recently saw a microchip development board that uses an sd bootloader with their fat16/fat32 file systems. Can't find the link at the moment though. This would be a handy feature and I currently have code space in my projects to handle room for this if it was available.
Thanks Ryan
